Many patients ask us how long the results of their FUE hair transplant procedure will last. An FUE hair transplant is a permanent solution for hair loss. However, everyone is different, and sometimes the results will last less time than others.
An FUE hair transplant procedure is when individual hair follicles are taken from the back of the patient’s scalp (also called the donor area) and are then transplanted into the balding area. Many of the follicles will be successfully implanted and provide a restored full head of hair, but some minor shedding may occur in the first few weeks following the transplant.
The back of the scalp is known as the “donor area”. This is because of the permanent nature of these hair follicles that are not affected by DHT and therefore provide better donor follicles than any other area of the scalp.
