How Can Laser Hair Restoration Help Me?

Will Laser Hair Restoration Work for All Types of Hair Loss?

Everyone, no matter what their age, sex, ethnicity, or hair colour is, can benefit from cold laser therapy for hair restoration. The only requirement is that the patient have hair follicles that are still capable of producing a hair strand. Laser hair restoration works not only to drastically reduce hair loss but also to make those thin, wispy hairs thicker and healthier. If a hair follicle is dead and no longer produces any hair, the only way to restore the hair loss is with a hair transplant. All other hair restoration treatments, including low-level light therapy (LLLT), are capable only of restoring a failing follicle to its best condition again, thereby restoring hair to the areas of thinning and loss.

Laser hair restoration is very effective in treating androgenic alopecia (also referred to as male or female pattern balding), the most common type of hair loss. Laser hair restoration also successfully treats alopecia areata, where hair is lost in random patches.

Are the Results Permanent?

Laser hair restoration is a great solution for patients who are looking for a treatment that is easy and inexpensive. Laser hair restoration is effective for at least 6 months after the initial treatment. Treatments should be done regularly twice per week for roughly 20 minutes per session. For the first 3 months, patients will notice that the shedding has stopped. At the 4- to 6-month stage, patients will notice new growth in the thinning areas.

Results always vary from patient to patient, and some may notice better results then others. Some patients may also experience a longer waiting period before they see any new growth. This is common and expected, and it is recommended that all patients follow the recommended treatment plan to ensure the best results.

Can LLLT Be Used with other Hair Restoration Treatments?

There is a vast assortment of causes for hair loss. Therefore, it only makes sense that there are also many different types of treatments to restore hair. Cold lasers are effective at reducing and even stopping hair loss when they are used as a stand-alone treatment, but a patient can expect even better results if lasers are used in addition to another hair restoration treatment. Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) and cold lasers are an amazing combination for treating any type of hair loss. Our patients who have used this combination have shown some very successful results. The Theradome LH80 Pro is the most effective stand-alone cold laser product on the market today. It can be used in the privacy of your own home for as little as 20 minutes 2 times per week. At the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, we also offer in-house hair restoration laser treatments using our Fotona laser.
