What to Expect from the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic

Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic

At the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, we strive to be the very best in hair restoration, and it shows in our results. We are currently doing 4 hair transplant procedures and 10 to 15 PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments per week. And these numbers just continue to grow with the word getting out from all of our satisfied patients.

No-Pressure Consultation

To begin, your initial contact will be with Dr. Torgerson and our manager Brian. At your consultation, you will be assessed to determine what type of hair loss as well as what level of hair loss you are at. For our patients, the most common type of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia or male/female pattern baldness.

Once we determine your type of hair loss and do a brief medical history for you, we will create a hair restoration plan that will suit your particular needs as well as budget. The most common treatments are PRP and/or hair transplant.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Patients who are dealing with the early stages of hair loss are perfect candidates for PRP treatments. Using your own blood and spinning out the red and white blood cells, leaving only the platelet-rich plasma, we are able to inject the PRP back into the areas of thinning in the scalp. This stimulates hair growth. Afterwards, you will notice different levels of growth over 3 to 6 months.

PRP is also great in conjunction with a hair transplant, because it fertilizes the scalp before the transplant and also stimulates the growth of not only the native hairs, but also the transplanted hairs. This ensures an ideal result for any patient.

We even have some patients who don’t have any noticeable hair loss doing PRP treatments on the scalp because they find that it makes their hair grow thicker, longer, and healthier.

What To Expect From The Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic

FUE Hair Transplant

At the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, we use both SmartGraft and NeoGraft FUE technology for our hair transplants. This technology allows our team to safely extract the grafts with minimal pain and scarring. The procedure itself is very comfortable for our patients, and we have been told time and time again that the day was a breeze. Some patients have even said that it was like a “day at the spa”.

We will need to shave an area in the back of the scalp to be able to properly harvest the donor grafts from this area. We do have the option for our patients to get a pre-haircut so that they look “normal” a couple of days after the procedure and appear like they had a haircut, not a hair transplant. The healing time is 7 to 10 days. After Day 5 or so, the only remaining “issue” for most patients will be the scabs that remain in the recipient area. These scabs can be washed off at Day 10. Some patients will also experience swelling in the forehead and around the eyes on Day 3 that will spike and be gone by Day 5.

The waiting is the hardest part for hair transplant patients, and they won’t see any growth start until the third month. At 6 months, the new hair will be much more noticeable, but it will take a full year before all of the transplanted hairs grow.
