Does The Weather Affect My Hair Transplant?

Does The Weather Affect My Hair Transplant?

We get asked quite often if the weather affects hair transplants. It is a good idea to take everything into consideration before getting a hair transplant. The cost, recovery time, and post-operative care are just a few of the things that you should be sure about before booking your FUE hair transplant procedure. Hair transplants require a significant investment of time, money, and effort. That’s why it’s important to make sure that you are educated about the entire process and are able to take the correct steps to get the best results possible.

In this article, we’ll take a look at when the ideal time of year is to have a hair transplant. We’ll also explain the proper hair transplant post-op care to help you achieve the best hair transplant results.

Does The Weather Affect My Hair Transplant

Will Perspiration Affect My Hair Transplant?

During the summer months, it’s not uncommon to sweat more while doing daily activities. If you are planning on having your hair transplant in the summertime, you may be wondering if or how sweating may affect your hair transplant results.

To aid with recovery, we advise our patients to avoid any exercise or sun exposure for the first few days after a hair transplant. Sweating will not drastically affect the results of your hair transplant surgery or your recovery time. It is just important that you keep the area clean. So normally, having a hair transplant during the summer months is nothing to worry about. Sunscreen is advised on the transplanted areas whenever you are planning to be in the sun. A hat is also a great option to protect the area from the harmful rays of the sun. Just be sure that the hat does not rub on the transplanted grafts during the first 7 to 10 days.

Will Cold Weather Affect My Hair Transplant?

The cold weather will not play any part in the recovery of your hair transplant. It is, of course, necessary for you to protect the area from the elements. A winter hat is a great option after 7 to 10 days. For the first week, make sure that you don’t wear anything on your head that may rub or disturb the transplanted grafts. A loose hoody shirt works well. It is also a good excuse to not have to go outside on a miserable winter day!

Here are some important tips for hair transplant aftercare:

  • Limit exercise, especially contact sports or heavy lifting for the first 7 to 10 days.
  • Make sure you “baby” the transplant area for the first 7 to 10 days. Follow the washing instructions provided to keep the area clean without risking any damage to the transplanted grafts.
