Hair loss can be caused by illness or malnutrition, but more commonly, the reason why over half of the population experiences progressive hair shedding is androgenic alopecia. This condition is also called male pattern baldness, and it tends to run in families. Women experience androgenic hair loss too in the form of diffuse, overall hair thinning.
Globally, roughly 85% of men report hair loss by the age of 50, and almost half of females struggle with significant thinning. If you see the signs, androgenic alopecia is nothing to be ashamed of, and you don’t necessarily have to live with it.
At the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, there are several popular methods of hair restoration that you can harness to take control of your appearance. However, follicular unit excision (FUE) hair transplant for London and GTA clients is often the best, most effective, and lasting way to reverse receding hairlines and bald spots.
That’s because a hair transplant relocates your living hair follicles to where you want them. Unlike hair systems, fibre sprays, or cover-ups, nothing styles more naturally than the healthy, lush hair that you once had.
London, Is a Hair Transplant the Best for You?
You may recall images of early hair transplant results that lacked enough precision or detail to appear real. In contrast, today’s results are so stunning that it can be very difficult to spot a well-executed restoration, and more celebrities than you know maintain their good looks this way.
In recent years, a multibillion-dollar hair growth industry evolved around medicated shampoos, potions, and camouflaging hairpieces. Yet most people want to permanently replenish their own natural hair.
It may be time for a hair transplant if
- covering up, wearing a hair piece, or camouflaging your scalp doesn’t appeal to you
- you’re seeking a drug-free way to grow your hair
- you want to invest in long-term hair growth
- you’re ready to dramatically transform your look and enjoy the styling options that you once had
- you understand that self-esteem and positive body image can be closely tied to your appearance

London Hair Transplant with FUE Technology
FUE stands for follicular unit excision. This advanced incarnation of hair transplantation is the least invasive, meticulous, and results-based choice with nearly scar-less results.
All patients at the THTC receive personalized planning from our plastic surgeons using NeoGraft or SmartGraft FUE technology. “Smart” transplant devices have been engineered to allow the safe extraction of tiny follicle grafts, leaving barely a trace on your scalp. In fact, your follicle removal sites will be so micro (less than 1 mm) that once they have healed, even short hairstyles can cover them effectively, unlike old-fashioned long transplant scars.
Our hair transplant clients often say that their procedure day felt like a breeze, and recovery at roughly 1 week is not intimidating.
On the day of your procedure, your practitioners will work while you relax on a treatment bed, listen to music, scroll social media, or nap if you wish!
The Process
In preparation for FUE treatment, we shave an area of your scalp at the back where robust, DHT-resistant hair grows (dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is the hormone that causes androgenic alopecia). Donor grafts are extracted a few hairs at a time from dense growth locations, then inserted at the correct angles to follow natural hair growth in desired areas.
We recommend that short-haired patients have a pre-haircut, which helps blend in the donor area as hair grows back. Plan to make some accommodations during recovery, such as avoiding swimming and working out for a short time. But you will be pleased to know that many people can avoid giving away that they had a hair transplant at all.
Hair transplant recovery time is typically 7 to 10 days. During that time, you can expect minor swelling and small scabs to form.
Your hair transplant results can last for a lifetime! However, your patience from the start is critical. The normal hair growth cycle can’t be rushed, so new growth appears by around the third month. Transplanted hairs reach their full, satisfying potential by 12 months on average.
Like all good things, hair transplant results are worth waiting for. You can finally ditch the gimmicks and run your fingers through your hair again – hair that is real, washable, stylable, and youthful!
