Questions and Answers with a Patient of the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic #1 – Mike
Is your hair thinner than it used to be? Are you balding? We see hundreds of patients who are dealing with hair loss of all types. Many people ask us similar questions. And many want to know about the experience of previous patients so they can be reassured about the treatments offered. Below one of our patients, Mike, answers some of your questions.
The most effective way of restoring hair that is lost by the most common form of hair loss, androgenic alopecia, is a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant. We also offer PRP (platelet-rich plasma therapy) treatments and cold laser treatments (Theradome Pro) to help stimulate the growth of all the hair follicles that remain. Both of these treatments work in different ways to help the hair grow as healthy as possible. The new hairs will be thick and full and not damaged by the effects of miniaturization or thinning. Another popular solution that we offer patients, depending on their needs and level of hair loss, is SMP (scalp micro-pigmentation). SMP is a semi-permanent hair tattoo that works to create the illusion of a shaved head. It is also helpful with adding the illusion of fuller hair in areas that are thinning.
How To Maintain Your Hair
To help maintain healthy hair, we recommend that our patients use the Revivogen MD brand of shampoo and conditioner as well as the Scalp Therapy spray. The Bio-Cleansing shampoo works to cleanse the surface area of DHT (dihydrotestosterone). The DHT hormone is responsible for killing the hair follicles in the areas that are affected by male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia).
Some patients just want to be able to camouflage the areas of thinning, and we suggest that they use the hair fibres that we offer at the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic. The SureThik brand is great for adding density to thin areas. We also offer an application that can be used for the eyebrows.
What We Recommend
We highly recommend that every man who is dealing with hair loss takes the prescription medication finasteride (Propecia). This once-a-day tablet will remove the hair-killing DHT from your body and therefore drastically reduce the level of hair loss.
We have helped a lot of people restore their hair over the years. We love to hear from them and how the new and improved hair has changed their lives. We like to take the time to ask our patients for their feedback and if they have any suggestions on how we can continue to be the best hair transplant clinic.
Below is a question-and-answer session that we had with one of our favourite hair transplant patients. Mike came to us through a referral from a previous patient about 7 months ago and had an advanced level of hair loss. We recommended 2 stages of FUE hair transplant as well as a full session of PRP (3 treatments within 3 months). The first session of 220 grafts would be used to recreate a frontal hairline with density. The PRP would help boost not only the growth of the transplanted hairs, but also the growth of any hairs that Mike had remaining.
The results so far have been amazing, and our patient has faithfully updated his Instagram account (toronto_hairtransplant_journey) with daily updates on his progress. He is already showing a stellar result and still has 5 months of growth ahead of him.
Here Are the Questions that We Asked Mike as well as His Responses to These Questions
If you are noticing that you are losing hair, the best time to act is now.
Hair transplant can be one of the most rewarding procedures for both men and women. The procedure from start to finish is not simply a financial investment in yourself, but also an investment in time. Full-cycle growth from the initial hair transplant procedure to fullness of growth takes 9 months to 1 year, so choosing a hair restoration specialist the first time around is absolutely essential. Otherwise, your journey to thicker and fuller hair could take more than a few years.

Schedule a Consultation with the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic
We offer discreet and personal consultations to go over the details of the process with you and establish the best course of action for treating your hair loss. During this consultation, a tailored and personalized quote will be given. The average amount of hair grafting needed is typically between 500 and 2,000 grafts (1 graft holds 1 to 4 hairs) and can cost anywhere from $5 to $6 per graft. The entire procedure can be accomplished in just one day. You would be able to return home the same day and return to your normal schedule within just a few days. One of the major benefits of the FUE technology, especially when compared to the FUT or strip method, is that the procedure is scar-less, a discreet resolution to hair loss and an incredible improvement over the scars and tell-tale signs of surgical hair transplants in days gone by.
FUE hair transplants are permanent and have a 90% to 96% success rate. This means that 90 to 96 grafts out of 100 transplanted will grow. We do a thorough assessment prior to a hair transplant to make sure that our patients are good candidates for hair transplant, and we see successful results time and time again. We also offer hair restoration options for eyebrows, beards, and facial hair, and we even repair and cover scars in areas where there is hair. So don’t wait until you have already lost all of your hair. Contact us today to discuss your hair restoration options.
