Facial Hair Grooming – Day-To-Day Tips
Facial hair is becoming a very popular trend. The Duck Dynasty boys have taken beards to a whole new level. Hipsters are sporting a much more well-groomed, cleaner-looking beard. We are seeing a growing number of patients who are trying to wear that perfect beard that they are looking for but just can’t get hair to grow in certain areas. We are able to add hairs anywhere that a patient is looking for more hair. But once you have that beard that you have always imagined, it is very important to take care of it. Here are some tips for facial hair grooming. Learn how to look after and maintain a great-looking beard.
Beard Trimming
– I recommend that you seek out the assistance of an experienced professional to keep your beard trimmed or “line it up” the way that you like. We here at the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, including me, trust the team at Miami Fades to take care of our patients for this. They do an amazing job!
– If you are going to do this yourself, it is important that you have the right tools for the job. This can be done using scissors or a beard trimmer or a combination of both.
– If you are going to be using mostly scissors to keep your beard at its best, we recommend that you spend the extra few dollars and get a pair of professional barber scissors.
– When purchasing a beard trimmer, it is worth the money to get a recognized professional brand that is rechargeable, cordless, and has multiple guards so that the beard can be trimmed at different lengths as needed.
– A good comb will also help make sure that you get everything tight and looking great. You can even find places that sell professional moustache combs that will help when grooming that area.
– Having the right mirrors will also help. A wall mirror with good lighting combined with a hand mirror is the preferred combination.
– Wait until the hair is dry before you do any cutting or shaving. Hair is at its longest when it is wet, and you may not get an optimal result if you decide to trim it while it is still wet.
– When using the comb and scissors technique, it is very important that you take your time and cut the hair on the outside of the comb at the appropriate length. Be very cautious until you have reached a point where you are confident that you are taking off the equal lengths of hair everywhere.
– After you have trimmed your beard, it is most important stylistically to maintain its shape. Take the guards off of the trimmer and make sure that it is at its lowest guard so that you get the cleanest shave. Keep a clean look and edge on your neck and underneath your chin as well as around the contours of the face.
– Finishing off with a straight razor will give you that perfect, final clean look.
– Beards should be washed the same as the hair on your head. Use a gentle salon-grade shampoo and conditioner. Pat dry after a shower and avoid blow drying, as it will dry out the skin and can cause unneeded itching.
