The Day Of A SmartGraft FUE Hair Transplant
Making the choice to move forward with a hair transplant is a big decision. It requires an investment of your time and money. The final result requires patience and will not reach full potential for an entire year. For us at the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, it is important to help you deal with all of these things as we enter this hair restoration journey together.
Preparing for the Hair Transplant
Dr. Torgerson and the entire team at the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic do our very best to help you feel positive and excited about making the choice to restore hair to those areas that have lost hair. So we want to make sure that you are able to ask us any questions you may have about the entire procedure. The procedure itself is actually very simple when compared to hair transplant procedures of the past. The SmartGraft FUE technology is able to harvest the follicular grafts with minimal pain, and it leaves no visible scarring. Other procedures can leave patients with weeks of recovery and very visible scars on the back of the head that span from ear to ear. The SmartGraft FUE process does require that an area on the back of the head be shaved. This allows the follicular grafts to be harvested with the most accuracy and with the least trauma to the follicle. We prepare our patients for this step by consulting with some of the top barbers and hair stylists in Toronto.
We also provide our patients with a pre-op instruction booklet and checklist that will help make things easier for the patient before they even arrive at our state-of-the-art surgery centre for the procedure.
Getting Started
As soon as the patient arrives at the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic, they are greeted by our hair transplant manager or one of our nurses. The final paperwork is completed, and the patient changes into a surgical gown. Once these steps have been crossed off of the list, the patient meets with Dr. Torgerson for the final hair restoration strategy. Dr. Torgerson will take the necessary pre-op photos that will be used later for the before and afters. Our experience shows that this is very useful and exciting for the patient to look back on once they have their new hair.
Once the new hairline design has been agreed upon, final pictures will be taken. The patient will be introduced to our amazing hair transplant team of nurses who will assist in the procedure from start to finish. Medications will be given to help make the day as pleasant as possible, and local anaesthetic will be injected into the donor area before the SmartGraft FUE transplant procedure begins. All the patient has to do after this point is relax and follow any advice or instructions from Dr. Torgerson and the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic team.
