6-Month Blog Update
I had my hair transplant 6 months ago on June 9, 2016. I have documented my entire journey in the hopes that it will be a benefit to every patient who we see at the Toronto Hair Transplant Clinic or to anyone who is suffering hair loss.
I will start by saying that the most exciting times are definitely within the first 2 weeks immediately following the procedure. That’s because things are actually happening, and every day something is new and can be reported. From 3 to 4 months is also a very exciting time because that is when the new hairs start to grow in. I am now at the 6-month mark. The best part of this time is the continued growth of hair.
Now I have almost completely filled out the areas that used to be bald with brand new hairs! I just have to say that this is very exciting. It has been great for the past few months to be able to wear my hair however I want without having to find a way to disguise my hair loss. I also wear my hair very short in the back, and it is a constant reminder of how thankful I am that I did use the NeoGraft FUE system to do my procedure. With the “strip method”, or FUT treatment, I would have been left with a scar on the back of my head where the hairs were taken from, and it would have limited me from being able to wear my hair the way that I do.
On that note, since getting my hair transplant, I have started to get my hair cut by the gentlemen at Miami Fades. We use them now for all of our hair transplant patients before the day of the procedure because we need the donor area to be shaved. We also want to make sure that our patients look great at all times. I personally love it every time I get my hair done. Even as I was writing this and thought about it, I actually stopped to book an appointment for today because I love getting it done. It just gives me a feeling of happiness to get my hair cut.
I have also now done 2 treatments of PRP, or platelet-rich plasma. This is where we draw blood and then spin it around in a centrifuge to isolate the red blood cells from the platelet rich blood that contains all of the growth hormones and proteins that our body uses to stimulate collagen and hair growth. Not only has it already made an obvious improvement on my hair growth, but as a side bonus, it also restored the melanin to my hair and therefore returned my natural hair colour to hairs that were turning grey or white in those areas. Very cool stuff! I highly recommend it to anyone that is considering any kind of hair restoration plan.
